Weekly CEO’s Message - 05 August 2022

05 August 2022 – Vaalpark

Respected Board Members, Local Law Enforcement Members, Supporters, Sponsors and Public Eye Members.

A not-so-quiet week! There was one incident of a gate motor stolen in Vaalpark, the incident was reported and mitigation measures advised to please install a gate motor frame. This will significantly reduce the possibility of tampering and theft of your gate motor.

Patrolls have been stepped-up in the wake of loadshedding, with some much appreciated additions to the squad from Welgelegen & Sasolburg. This enabled us to patrol not only Vaalpark but also Sasolburg, Naledi and Welgelegen. A huge move in the right direction.
In other news, there has been an increase of vagrants taking refuge in Vaalpark this week, but they were swiftly and professionally dealt with and removed.
There has also been an increase of suspect vehicles and pedestrians reported that were also swiftly investigated.
We experienced an increase in public drinking and violent behaviour as a result, incidents were judged on merit and accordingly dealt with.
Rapid response, persistent visibility and presence, as well as accuracy and quality of reporting by the community, are key in maintaining the current status quo in Vaalpark and surroundings.

The vast amount of vagrants and drug users in the Sasolburg CBD remains a challenge, in spite of our continued efforts in an attempt to curb the use of drugs in general.

The stage is set within the ranks of PE to take on a new approach by the NPO with regards to service delivery in the community. With some new members to our Management team, comes added dynamics and fresh ideas that can only enhance our outlook in future for better service delivery with regards to fighting crime.
As a very vibrant and dynamic team, we are also duty-bound to incorporate an element of charity to the arsenal. Afterall…For the Community, By the Community!

The current economic climate is certainly taking its toll on socio-economic development and brings along many challenges which are contributing factors in the fight against crime. As such, the focus for PE has needed to change as the criminal element has the tactical advantage. We need to ensure the safety of our operational team and therefore their safety is now a large priority. We need to meet force with force and will need to significantly upgrade the tactical kit of our operations team. These are the people putting their lives on the line to ensure everyone’s safety and they deserve as much advantage as can be provided. Hence some projects need to be reprioritised with paying off current debt the main priority.
